Papa showed the letter to a guard at a gate. The gate was huge! It towered over us. The early
afternoon sun cast a shadow over the guards, making them look scary. The guard called for the
gate to be opened. The gate revealed a huge castle, made of either glass or ice. It was a lot
bigger then my palace home. It was so big I just wanted to run the corridors. I followed Papa
through the garden. Lilies, roses, apple trees and more, in almost every color, outlined the
cobblestone walkway. Papa turned to me.
“Keep your hood up and walk quietly, don’t attract attention to yourself.” He warned. I nodded
and flipped up my hood, over my eyes. We walked up the steps to the huge doors of the Castle.
The doors swung open by themselves, like magic. I was cooler in the Castle. It felt like early fall
rather than midsummer.
“Aww, Rumby, so good to see you again.” Said a woman dressed in black. She had the reddest
lips I’ve ever seen! She approached Papa with arms open. Papa pushed me behind himself, shielding
me from her.
“Queen-y!” He bowed. Smiling at her.
“Who’ve you got there Rumby?” She wondered aloud, acknowledging me.
“Oh! This is Chip your majesty.” Papa steps aside and whispered in my ear to curtsy. I did, wobbling.
“Who is Chip to you, my dear friend?” She said eyeing me. Her ice cold eyes made me uncomfortable.
I stepped behind Papa again.
“She is a child servant.” Papa lied. What was so wrong about this lady that Papa had to protect me
from her.
“Step-mother!” Said a beautiful maiden; strolling into the grand hall. She had skin paler then
mine, black hair and red lips.
“Aww, Snow!” She said, forcing a smile. “Snow, why don’t you take Rumpelstiltskin’s new friend
and show her around?” Papa bowed to Snow and I followed his lead hand, curtsying.
“Yes Step-mother.” She sighed took my hand. “Come on.” She took me out of the hall and down
some elaborate hallways.
“I’m Chip!” I smiled. She pushed open a big door, revealing a huge courtyard. The courtyard
looked acres and acres wide. It was a garden even more amazing than the one Papa brought me
through before.
“I’m Snow White.” She said turning to me. “Here! It’s too warm out here for a cloak. She unpinned
my traveling cloak and draped it over a bench. The hood loosened my ribbons so my suddenly, free
hair was now falling in front of my eyes again. Snow giggled “This is my favorite place in the whole
world.” She twirled with her arms open. She strolled down the path and I followed, walking beside
her. “Come this way. How long have you known Sir Rumpelstiltskin?” I thought for a moment.
“My whole life!”
“How many years do you have? I have 13”
“No years, I have four weeks.” I explained. Snow stopped and stared at me.
“You’re magical!” She gasped. Now it was my turn to look at her puzzled.
“No I’m a china tea cup.” I blinked. We started walking again. “My Papa is the magical one;
he turned me into a person.” She nodded as we walked around a bend revealing a white gazebo.
Snow and I walked inside.
“Here, Chip, take this.” She handed me a yellow flower with the middle popped out. She tucked
it behind my ear. “It’s a Black Eyed Susan. It makes you look beautiful.” I smiled.
“Thank you Princess.”
“Do you want to play a game?” Snow asked.
“What’s a game?” I asked.
“It’s something you do that’s fun.” She explained.
“Like running?” I gasped. I loved using my new legs.
“Yes but you usually play a game with someone you enjoy being with.”
“I enjoy being with you, Papa and Lady Lane.!” I gasped. “So I can play games with them!”
Snow smiled.
“I’ll show you all my favorite games!” Snow offered. I nodded. Snow and I played until the Queen
called us in. Papa told me that we were going to stay for a few days. I was glad, It meant I got to
spend a few more days with my new friend.
